FAQ
FAQ

All Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products

Q: How much Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products can I take at a time?

A: How much you can take, and how much you should take are two very different questions. As far as published studies are concerned, no toxicity level has ever been found with vitamin C, glutathione, or B vitamins. Nor is there any documented toxicity level for phospholipids (the material in the liposomes).

As far as how much you "should" take, we recommend one to two packets per day for general health maintenance. If you choose to take more than the recommend dosage, it is best to increase the dosage level slowly over a 7 day period.

Q: Should I consult my doctor before taking Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™  products?

A: Consider consulting your doctor before starting a supplementation program that includes vitamin C if you have hemochromatosis, any type of hemolytic anemia, G6PD deficiency, or known kidney insufficiency or failure. In most cases, vitamin C can be supplemented safely when initiated appropriately and adequately monitored, regardless of the medical condition one may have.

Q: Can I blend the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products in a food processor or blender?

A:We do not recommend blending any of the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products in a food processor or blender.

The Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ nutrients are encapsulated in tiny essential phospholipid "bubbles." These bubbles are impervious to digestive juices and protect their valuable contents from oxidative degradation. Blending the products in a food processor or blender may harm the phopholipid bubbles and drastically decrease the bio-availability of the products.

Q: Are there any supplements or medications that should not be taken with Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products?

A:All of the components of the AGE Blocker™ and GSH are common dietary supplements that should not interfere with other supplements or most medications. However, we do not recommend taking any form of vitamin C with prescription Coumadin or Warfarin. We recommend consulting your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions about taking this product with your current medications.

Q: Can I mix the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products in hot beverages like coffee or tea?

A: We do not recommend mixing any of the Lypo-Spheric™ products in hot beverages like coffee or tea.

These bubbles are impervious to digestive juices and protect their valuable contents from oxidative degradation. For best results, we recommend taking the product with a cool beverage.

Q: If I take Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C and Lypo-Spheric™ AGE Blocker™, which has a minor amount of sodium benzoate in it, will my body make benzene?

A:From the desk of Thomas Levy MD, JD:

Sodium benzoate and vitamin C mixed directly together, such as in a soft drink, can result in a limited production of benzene. Increased benzene production does not occur in products which do not contain both benzoate AND ascorbic acid (1,2). Since Lypo-Spheric AGE Blocker does not contain ascorbic acid, there is no possibility of benzoate formation on their own.

Even if one were to take Lypo-Spheric AGE Blocker concurrent with Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C, the mechanism of benzene formation requires conditions not present in this scenario(3). In addition, the ascorbic acid in the Vitamin C is contained in liposomes which prevent contact with the sodium benzoate during the very short time required for these supplements to pass through the stomach (4).

If you have any fears about possibility of even miniscule amounts of benzene forming in your stomach, simply take the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C by itself on an empty stomach and wait at least 20 minutes before ingesting any product that contains sodium benzoate and don't take Lypo-Spheric AGE Blocker with any beverages containing vitamin C.

Q: What makes Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products different from traditional supplements?

A:The Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products are packaged in sealed packets that prevent exposure to degrading agents in the environment, like pollutants in the air. The individual packets keep the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ supplements as fresh as the day they were packaged! The Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products are encapsulated with liposomes made from top-grade phosphatidylcholine (PC) derived from soy lecithin. PC is loaded with Essential Fatty Acids (omega-3 and omega-6) which are essential for many bodily functions and are especially important for proper fat metabolism. The choline in phosphatidylcholine has tremendous health benefits as well. Together they promote optimum liver health, help maintain LDL and HDL cholesterol levels already within normal units, scour the circulatory system for free cholesterol, provide the raw materials for cell membrane repair throughout the body, and are essential in the maintenance of healthy blood, glands, and organs.

Q: Why don’t the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products dissolve in water?

A:One of the major advantages of liposomal delivery systems is that liposomes do not dissolve in water, most acids, or most alkaline solutions. As a result, they can protect their contents until they reach the liver where they are metabolized.

Q: I cannot drink lots of juice because of the sugar and don't really like the taste of Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products plain or in water. Is there a better way to take it?

A:Although there is no particular health benefit in putting Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products in a flavored beverage, we suggest this method because some people do not care for the liposomal taste.

If the quantity of juice is a concern, we suggest you squeeze your Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products into 1 or 2 oz. of juice rather than a full serving. Also, if sugar is a concern, use a vegetable juice rather than fruit juice.

Q: When is the best time to take Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products?

A: While there is no exact time these products have to be taken, we recommend taking them in the morning and/or early afternoon. Taking the products too late in the evening may cause a burst of energy which could interfere with your normal sleep schedule.

Q: Should I take the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ products on an empty stomach?

A:We recommend you take the product on an empty stomach because it will enter the bloodstream faster. For those who are prone to low blood sugar levels, the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ AGE Blocker™ should be taken just before a light snack or meal. Hypoglycemic substances, like caffeine, should be avoided.

Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C

Q: Why do the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C packets get puffy?

A: When the product combines with oxygen in the packets, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is created and this causes the packets to swell over time. Carbon dioxide is not harmful to the liposomes or to your health. In fact, this gas is used to make soda pop fizzy. We also exhale carbon dioxide when we breathe out.

Q: Will supplementing with vitamin C lead to the development of kidney stones?

A:Although some have theorized a correlation between vitamin C and the development of kidney stones, research contradicts the hypothesis. The theory is based on two unrelated observations:

1) A portion of ingested vitamin C produces oxalate or oxalic acid

2) Individuals with increased oxalate in their urine may have a greater risk of developing kidney stones

Extensive research, however, has shown that a "healthy person who avoids dehydration and ingests very large amounts of vitamin C does not need to have any concern about kidney stone formation."*1

In 1999, two studies conducted at Harvard showed that vitamin C is not a factor in the development of kidney stones in healthy adults. Curhan et al. (1999) followed 85,557 women for 14 years and found no statistical association with vitamin C and increased risk of kidney stone development.*2An earlier study of 45,251 healthy men with no history of kidney stones reached the same conclusion with dosage levels that ranged from 250mg to 1,500 mg of vitamin C daily.*3

Q: Why is there alcohol in the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C?

A:There is alcohol in the product for preservative purposes. This is a pharmaceutical grade natural grain alcohol which will not cause any ill effects in the body. If you do not wish to consume the alcohol in the product, open the packet and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to let the alcohol evaporate. (Do not let it sit for more than 8 hours because it will oxidize).

Lypo-Spheric™ AGE Blocker™

Q: Why is indium included in the Lypo Spheric™ AGE Blocker™?

A: Indium is included to make the Lypo-Spheric™ AGE Blocker a powerful anti-aging product and to increase absorption of the other minerals found in the product. Indium is an important trace mineral that increases essential trace mineral absorption in the liver, heart, kidneys, spleen, and lungs.* It also helps stimulate the release of hormones like Human Growth Hormone (HGH), estrogen, testosterone, and other hormones.*

Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ GSH

Q: Why should I take Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ GSH if the body already makes glutathione?

A:In the presence of toxic and infectious stresses in the body, the levels of GSH inside the cell and outside the cell decline. While it is true that GSH is synthesized inside the cell, this does not mean that this ability can keep up with all stresses. It does not. Subsequently, the lowered GSH levels cannot maintain optimal cellular health, resulting eventually in clinically apparent disease or generalized poor health. Lowered GSH levels result in compromised immune function.*

Q: What may the Altrient™ Lypo-Spheric™ GSH do for me?

A:There are 3 key functions of GSH: Antioxidant, Immune System booster Detoxifier.*

1. GSH is the cell’s master antioxidant. Not only does GSH function very well as an intracellular antioxidant, but it also recycles Vitamin C, Vitamin E, lipoic acid and peroxide, the cell’s other vital antioxidants.*

2. GSH is a powerful detoxifier. The liver, as the body’s primary filter, contains more GSH than any other organ or tissue in the body. Not only does GSH neutralize many toxins, but it is also key in their elimination from individual cells and the body. KEY: This means GSH is a powerful chelator.

3. GSH is “super food” for T-killer cells, T-helper cells, basophils, phagocytes, microphages, and leucocytes, greatly empowering these first line defenders in the human immune system.*

Q: Where does GSH come from?

A: The body’s cells make GSH from three amino acids – glutamate, l-cysteine and glycine, also referred to as “precursors.” The body depends on the presence of these “precursors” and the cell’s health status to make GSH. Since many of these precursors are missing from our modern diet and people frequently have less than healthy cells, natural GSH levels are often low. This is why supplementation with reduced GSH is important for optimum cellular (and overall) health.*

Q: What does GSH stand for?

A:Glutathione Sulfhydryl

Phospholipids are the primary building blocks of the cellular membrane - the thin, protective wall around each cell in your body. This phospholipid wall is pretty smart. It keeps what's inside the cell (various fluids and "organelles," such as the nucleus and the mitochondria) inside the cell. It keeps other things out. And it allows certain substances to pass in and out of the cell.
